Dear all
The job opportunity below might well be of interest to someone on
these lists (apologies for x-posting). Amongst other projects, I know
that the GCI is one of the organisations behind ARCHES.
Best wishes
Leif

Dear Leif,
I am reaching out to you, and by extension to your colleagues, to let
you know of an exciting new position available for a Senior IT Project
Manager (limited-term, three years) at the Getty Conservation
Institute in Los Angeles and to seek your help identifying potential
candidates.
First, please allow me to introduce the Getty Conservation Institute
(GCI). We are a non-profit cultural heritage organization that works
internationally to advance conservation practice in the visual arts,
broadly interpreted to include objects, collections, architecture, and
sites. The GCI serves the visual arts conservation community through
scientific research, education and training, and model field projects.
In all endeavors, the GCI focuses on the creation and dissemination of
knowledge that will benefit the professionals and organizations
responsible for the conservation of the world's cultural heritage.
The GCI has launched a job search for a Senior IT Project Manager to
manage the development of multi-year software projects at all stages,
including gathering user needs and documenting technical requirements.
Among the projects on which he/she will work is the GCI’s new
Integrating Imaging and Analytical Technologies for Conservation
Practice project, which seeks to develop or adapt software tools to
integrate, visualize, and interrogate imaging and analytical data
collected in the study of works of art. The goal of this particular
project is to facilitate the extraction and sharing of new information
for cultural heritage research. More information about the project’s
background can be found at:
http://www.getty.edu/conservation/our_projects/integrating_imaging.html.
A complete job description is attached. We are seeking an accomplished
IT project manager with experience in complex project development.
Candidates should be creative thinkers with excellent communication
skills, capable of working independently, as part of a
multi-disciplinary team, and with other organizations working on
similar projects.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse
project team of fine art conservators, scientists, IT specialists, and
international partners, and to contribute to several development
projects in the field of cultural heritage. I hope that you will share
this message and the job description for this position with any
interested colleagues. I would also be very grateful for any
suggestions you may have for candidates.
With best wishes,
Alison Dalgity
