Consider in Derive 6.10 under Windows,
fmin := 2^-16382
sqrt(.25 + #i*fmin)
I have tried to approximate that using 200, then 2000, then 20000
digits of accuracy and all three come up with 0.5
(when 0.5 + #i*fmin is a much better approximation).
Is there some better way to have Derive compute the complex sqrt
when the imaginary part is very small?
