The Role

You will shape the strategic direction of the department as you develop our undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum while supporting our new multidisciplinary research centre. Whatever your level, you will maintain a personal programme of research and scholarship that furthers the remit of the Centre for Research in Communities, Identities and Difference (CReCID). At the same time, you will attract and supervise postgraduate research students, develop productive national and international links with academics within criminology and other disciplines, and contribute to the teaching and academic management of the school.

An appointment will be made at the appropriate grade based on assessment against the agreed role profiles provided.

The Person

Working in any area of the criminal justice system or criminal justice policy, you will have a PhD in criminology or a related area together with sound experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You strong track record of research and publication in peer-reviewed journals will mean you have the ability to attract external research funding. Approachable and innovative, you will be keen to collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines with the communication skills to engage effectively with academic and non-academic audiences. Expertise in quantitative methods is highly desirable. Interest in an area of research that strengthens the portfolio of our new research centre will be vital.

The Role

You will build on the success of psychology at Kingston which includes massive investment from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) as well as research funding from a wide range of sources. As we seek to expand our research and teaching portfolio to include forensic psychology, you will lead the development and accreditation of an MSc in Forensic Psychology to be delivered jointly with the Criminology Department. Your remit will include supporting the development of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, maintaining a personal programme of research and supervising postgraduate research students. An appointment will be made at the appropriate grade based on assessment against the agreed role profiles provided. Two posts are available on this basis. 

The Person

Dynamic and ambitious, you will bring chartered forensic psychologist status and membership of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Forensic Psychology or a doctoral degree in criminological, investigative, forensic or clinical forensic psychology. This will be complemented by successful experience of teaching and course leadership in the higher education sector at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Skilled in communicating effectively with academic and non-academic audiences, you will also have an excellent track record of recent research outputs and peer-reviewed publications. Experience of applying for external funding would make your application stand out.
