I think the new regs that came into force on 1 June, and did away with the statutory form, probably do make this acceptable but I'd welcome a judgement on this from someone more authoritative (Tim?)

I understand that scanned signatures on forms sent electronically are an acceptable means of authentication.
Presumably a tick box inviting the applicant to accept terms and conditions of use is not?
