italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear friends and colleagues,
I am delighted to invite you to the forthcoming roundtable 'Translating Minor Languages in Italy' at Senate House, University of London. We will launch a new anthology of Friulian poetry in English edited by Dr Anna Bogaro for Cinnamon Press. Dr Bogaro will be in conversations with poets and translators Cristina Viti and Stephen Watts. We will discuss the place of minor languages such as Friulian in Italian culture and society. How has the status of dialects changes in the last 30 years? What does it mean to write in a minor language? And how can the significance of dialect poetry be expressed in translation?
All are welcome! I hope to see you there!
