Dear Critters,
It has now been 9 weeks since Simon Cook kicked off an interesting conversation by asking "What if London was a National Park?". Since then, our provocative website and campaign have been building momentum. 50 organisations are now Friends of the Park* ranging from the Girl Guides to Vango and Hemingway Design to the John Muir Trust.
You might be interested to read my blog post on the Guardian (http://www.theguardian.com/local-government-network/2014/may/27/greater-london-national-park-city) and the response to our petition from the Mayor's office (http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/boris-johnson-create-the-greaterlondonnationalpark/responses/11922).
The idea extends beyond London with the proposal of a new kind of national park being created.. a National Park City.
I see the Greater London National Park* as a significant piece of public geography. As such, I would like to welcome you all to engage with the idea. This may be in public forums, your lectures, by signing and sharing the petition or anything else you can think of.
I welcome critical comments as much as direct support.
