For information, from TRAFFIC International, the new website takes a while to load but looks interesting:

Dear Friends of FairWild,
Those who attended the event “Communicating sustainability: marketing of wild-collected herbal teas” event at the BioFach trade fair in Germany earlier this year may remember we gave a brief preview of the “Traditional and wild” online toolbox.
This website was developed by TRAFFIC and WWF Germany as part of an EU-funded project aimed at preserving knowledge about sustainable harvesting of wild plant resources in Central Europe. The site was officially launched today, and can be explored here: http://www.traffic.org/traditionalwild.
The website guides visitors on a journey through the wonderful world of wild plants. It contains information about 30 commonly used wild-collected plants, quizzes and plant facts, and a resources section for those who want to learn more about sustainable wild harvest and trade. It provides a learning resource for training sessions and workshops on wild plants.
The FairWild Standard features in the website through an online cartoon, which explains how the principles can guide efforts to ensure plants are managed, harvested and traded in a way that maintains populations in the wild and benefits rural producers. Also included is an overview of selected projects worldwide incorporating use of the FairWild Standard.
The toolbox has a focus on the Central European region, and is also available in Polish, Hungarian, Slovenian and Czech, with some sections in Roma. However, it is relevant to a broader audience. For more information, see the original press release: http://www.traffic.org/home/2014/5/27/wild-plants-the-stars-of-innovative-online-toolbox.html
In other news, those with an interest in wild harvested botanicals on the European market may also be interested to learn of a new study published by the Trade for Development Centre of the Belgian Development Agency (BTC), in the context of their producer support programme. The report, which was authored by ProFound – Advisers In Development, covers wild-collected medicinal and aromatic plants from six countries which have a potential for livelihoods enhancement and conservation action, identifying the possibility for value-addition through standard systems and certification schemes such as FairWild. http://www.befair.be/en/content/wild-collected-botanicals-and-eu-market
