Subject: Updated response to ONS consultation on statistical products
ONS has today published an updated response to the Consultation on
Statistical Products, which was open for public comment during September
and October 2013.
The consultation sought views on the impact of proposed cuts to statistical
outputs, necessitated by a reduction in ONS funding.
ONS published its response to the consultation in February 2014. The
response identified three categories of outputs: 16 that would continue to
be produced by ONS; 15 that would continue if alternative sources of
funding could be found; and seven that ONS would stop.
In the period following the end of the consultation, ONS has met with a
number of government departments and public bodies to discuss possible
funding for the outputs in the second category. Following these
constructive discussions, alternative funding or alternative solutions have
been found for five of the 15 outputs. These will now continue. The
remaining ten outputs will be discontinued, however, other sources of data
will continue to be available for some of these. More detail is provided in
the published update and I attach a link to this

. The final outcome for all 38 statistical products consulted on is listed
in Annex A of the report.
ONS would again like to thank all respondents for taking the time to
participate in this consultation.
