Hello,
It has been a few years since I participated in this list, I know a few of you from earlier times when I was a member.
I am the Occupational Health Manager for the largest hospital in Singapore, responsible for the health and well-being of 7250 souls, which we opened in January of this year, taking over the role from the former Staff Clinic.
My role has a large infecteous disease portfolio and to date we had to deal with: Measles, Chicken Pox, TB, Nisseria Menigitidis etc. We are looking at how to deal with staff who have and will be travelling to Haji in the coming months in light of MERS-CoV. Dealing with a huge SE Asian work health problems is very different from the UK. Singapore does not have a welfare system to support those individuals in need. We regular have people in their 70s + 80s working to support themselves.
I have been here for 4 years and will be turning to Blighty sometime next year. Prior to working in Singapore, I was the OH Manager at the now defunct Financial Service Authority in London, and, prior to that I set up the OH service for AIG (American Insurance Group) in the UK. Although I am not a mental health nurse, my area of speciality is dealing with the mental health and well-being of people working in financial services,
I look forward to reading all the posts and commenting where I can share my experience
