British official documentaries and newsreels of the First World War
Stephen Badsey, Professor of Conflict Studies, University of Wolverhampton
Professor Stephen Badsey joined the University of Wolverhampton in 2007. He is an internationally acknowledged expert on propaganda and military-media issues from the mid-19th century to the present day. His first research position after leaving university was to catalogue the Imperial War Museum collection of documentary and newsreel films of the First World War period, which have remained a life-long interest. Among his many publications are the Introduction to the Imperial War Museum Film Catalogue Volume 1: The First World War Archive (1994), and The British Army in Battle and Its Image 1914-1918 (2009). He appears on, and advises frequently for television and other media as a historian and commentator.
