As a membership organisation, with c.900 members throughout the UK and

The role of ʻArea Repʼ is very important to engage - there are two or three reps in most
areas who work together with support from the engage team to further our aim to
promote access to, understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts through gallery
education.
ʻSpecial Interest Reps' are equally important, offering engage and Council the benefit of
specialist knowledge and experience in areas elected as important to the sector and
engage members.
engage Area and Special Interest Reps sit on a Council of members, attending three
meetings annually during which Members and staff discuss the organisationʼs policies
and programmes, as well as hear speakers on agreed topics that are relevant to the
sector and gallery education practice. Area Reps also programme up to four meetings
per year in their region, network with colleagues and take an active role in supporting
the gallery education sector, with the additional support of Special Interest Reps.
These are voluntary roles, though some support for travel and time is available to
freelancers.
The benefits of becoming a Council member include:
- 20% discount on conferences & training seminars in the UK organised by engage
centrally
- The opportunity to input into national gallery education policy and strategy
- Being part of a network of key people involved in gallery education in the UK
- Advice and guidance on accessing key organisations in the UK and other countries
- The chance to network with colleagues and form partnerships locally and nationally
Feedback from Council members on the benefits of their role..
ʻThe opportunity to network with peers in the sector, support colleagues through networking
events and act as an advocate for gallery education.ʼ
ʻOpportunity to contribute to the development of the sector, discuss, ideas and issues. Support
the continued development of an essential membership organisation.ʼ

engage are seeking a Representative for the following vacancy:
- Special Interest Rep – Digital Programmes, to support and advise engage on the
use of digital technologies and platforms for gallery education.
engage is aware, through consultation, that digital technologies and platforms are
currently under-used in gallery education. engage would like to support the sector to
develop the use of digital technologies and platforms within gallery education. This year
engage has delivered three seminars on digital technologies and gallery education in
England, Scotland and Wales; Area Groups have also run sessions on this topic. The
