Liverpool UK/Hastings UK - 29.05.14
Liverpool University Press<http://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/> (LUP), the UK's third oldest university press, has finalized an agreement with Helm Information<http://www.helm-information.co.uk/> to acquire the Dickens Companions Series<http://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=195&catid=6&Itemid=4>, with immediate effect.
These titles provide the most comprehensive annotation of the works of Dickens ever undertaken, with each title focusing on one specific Dickens book. The acquisition includes previously published volumes in the series and the forthcoming tenth volume - the Companion to Dombey and Son<http://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/index.php/?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=54&AS1=9781781381274>. LUP will continue to publish this prestigious series, with the eventual aim to have a Companion for every single work by Dickens in print, and for the first time digital, form.
"The founding ideal of this series is that the work of Dickens should be as closely annotated as that of Shakespeare. These remarkable acts of scholarship, under the editorship of Susan Shatto and David Paroissien, have so far met that ideal through the publication of exceptionally rich and detailed analyses of the author's work. Liverpool University Press<file:///\\ufs02\user04\JHOWARD2\SERIES\Dickens%20Companions\ww.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk> will extend this endeavour to cover Dickens' entire output and in tandem with print editions create an essential digital platform for all serious Dickens scholars," said Anthony Cond, Managing Director of Liverpool University Press<http://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/>.
"I am delighted that the Companions have found such a suitable home. I know that LUP will continue to maintain the standard whilst making the series available in a whole new format. Dickensians worldwide will be excited at this development," said Amanda Helm, Helm Information<http://www.helm-information.co.uk/>.
