Hi all
Please find attached details of an exciting opportunity to do a fully-funded 3.5 year PhD at the interface of structural geology and material science. The project will combine geological observations with theory and lab experiments developed to study crack initiation and growth in building materials. We are looking to recruit a geologist or engineer who enjoys both lab and fieldwork, and is open to working in a genuinely multi-disciplinary environment. This is an EPSRC-funded position, so is only open to UK/EU students.
Other fully-funded PhD opportunities are posted on the departmental webpage http://www.strath.ac.uk/civeng/pg/funding/phd/.
The University of Strathclyde has a scholarship scheme for outstanding students with a closing date for applications of the 12th June. The scholarships cover home fees and a stipend equivalent to research councils', and are open to any nationality. If you have the equivalent of a 1st class degree or distinction at masters level and are interested in applying for the scholarship, please contact either me, the dept PhD administrator, [log in to unmask], or the academic staff member that you are interested in working with. You can either propose your own project, or worth with your potential supervisor to develop a project, but the principal criteria for selection of applicants is an excellent academic track record.
Please send me an email if you need any other info
Cheers
Zoe
