The holder of the Chair will simultaneously serve as Director of the
Arnold-Bergstraesser Institute (ABI) for Cultural Studies at the
Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. The ABI is a center for studies of the
Global South, research on developing countries and the politics of
development. The holder of the Chair holds office at the
Arnold-Bergstraesser-Institute. The teaching load is 4 hours per week per
term (there is a winter and a summer term) and the courses will be embedded
the teaching program of the Department of Political Science. We are looking
for candidates with:
* An internationally recognized outstanding track record in research
in the areas outlined above;
* A strong regional focus with a comparative perspective and extensive
experience in fieldwork;
* An interdisciplinary orientation;
* Extensive teaching experience, if possible outside Europe as well;
* Ample experience in attracting third party research funding;
* Experiences in consultancy work concerning development cooperation
Apart from fulfilling general civil service regulations, persons with a
completed university education, an excellent PhD dissertation and
exceptional didactic skills are eligible for the position. The expected
excellence in research is either documented through a Habilitation or
equivalent performance (University Law Baden-Württemberg, LHG).

The professorship is tenured. Renumeration according to the W3 salary scale.
