WASHINGTON IRVING: A Research Emergency
As an English Romanticist specialising in the familiar essay and metropolitan culture, but living and working in Malaysia, my access to relevant critical resources is, as you can imagine, quite limited.
Therefore, with a submission deadline fast approaching, I am forced to appeal to the BARS community for help.
I urgently require recent critical material on Washington Irving. Can anyone recommend a readily accessible online article (eg, in Romanticism and Victorianism on the Net)? Or is there a copy of an article or book chapter which you yourself have written, which you can scan and send (to: [log in to unmask])?
I require the above for an article I am writing on Irving's persona, Geoffrey Crayon, and Cockneyism. I've got plenty of material on Cockneyism, but absolutely nothing on Irving.
If anyone can help, I would be most grateful if you could respond to this message by 20 May at the latest.
Sincerely,
Simon Hull (Dr.),
Senior Lecturer in English,
Universiti Sains Malaysia.
