BARS members may know that 2014 marks the bicentenary of the publication of Mary Lamb's important essay 'On Needlework', a passionate piece about the inequalities of women's labour by a writer who had personal experience of the trade. The Charles Lamb Society is planning a celebration of this essay by organizing a reading group and discussion of the piece in London at the Swedenborg Hall in late November 2014. Can I ask members if they know of anyone who is currently working on Mary Lamb, or on women and needlework in the late 18th or early 19th centuries, who might be interested in participating?
