Archives Assistants: 2 posts
12 month fixed term contracts – starting September 2014
Salary: £20,153 p.a. (Band 7)
Lambeth Palace Library, the historic library and archive of the Archbishops of Canterbury, wishes to recruit two Archives Assistants, on twelve month fixed term contracts. The posts are suitable for those seeking experience before undertaking a postgraduate course in archives management. Duties will include assisting in our busy Reading Room, enquiry work and creating catalogue records using CALM for Archives.
Candidates should have a good honours degree or equivalent, preferably in history (or expect to achieve one this summer), good IT and communication skills, and the ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a team. Some relevant archival experience is required and a knowledge of CALM would be desirable. It is also important that the successful candidates should be prepared to master a wide range of duties, both routine and professional, with application and enthusiasm.
