Make a difference as a Statistician within Clinical Statistics at GSK
GlaxoSmithKline is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, with statisticians and programmers working in Research and Development at UK and US sites. The Quantitative Sciences division includes statistics groups covering non-clinical areas and clinical drug development in a wide range of therapeutic areas and phases.
Over the next five years, GSK has the potential to launch up to 19 new medicines and vaccines globally. This is a huge opportunity to transform the lives of patients and the future of our company. GSK’s new global franchises are born of this once in a lifetime opportunity. In order to be ready to launch these new products, this year and beyond, we have undergone a major change initiative to re-design the way we support and manage evidence generation for our portfolio of late stage medicines, thereby better connecting the earlier stage development activities with later stage programmes and the markets on a global basis. This dramatic change has led to a major expansion and focus on our Global Medical Affairs function.
As part of this exciting initiative, we have an opportunity for a statistician to support our new global respiratory franchise. This is a developmental role for key talent, enabling statisticians with a track record of success to contribute to global drug development and launch optimisation in the Franchise. GSK has an extremely strong portfolio of respiratory medicines . Respiratory Clinical Statistics provides input to the whole respiratory portfolio end to end covering early and late-phase thus providing further opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to assets at other stages of the development cycle.
Dependent on relevant experience responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to):
• Providing statistical input to the design, analysis, reporting and interpretation of clinical studies.
• Influencing and providing statistical contributions and relevant analyses to support clinical development plans, regulatory and commercial strategies.
• Building and maintaining effective strategic working relationships with internal and external partners to meet business needs.
Within GSK, Clinical Statistics is part of Quantitative Sciences, a group which also contains pharmacokineticists, epidemiologists, geneticists and computational biologists, so our statisticians have the opportunity to take part in world-class methodological research, as well as fulfil their vital role on project teams, where they help to craft development plans for assets and oversee all statistical aspects for clinical projects. Our end-to-end project support model ensures that our statisticians can work across the entire range of drug development, from early discovery, to registration and marketed product support.
We are searching for a talented, effective statistician who would relish the opportunity to contribute across the range of work we have on offer. We reward staff who demonstrate innovative thinking, have excellent communication skills and who are able to successfully influence project strategy. Applications are particularly sought from those with experience beyond standard methodology and drug development approaches.
We offer competitive salaries, benefits, training and development, and are committed to the continuous development of your technical skills and competencies. Opportunities are available at our site in Stockley Park (Uxbridge, Middlesex, UK) .
