We have offices in Oxford (UK), Bethesda, New Jersey and San Francisco (USA), and Vancouver and Toronto (Canada). We undertake consultancy projects for a range of international clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
We now seek an Epidemiologist to join our Epidemiology and Health Economics group in Oxford. Our team is respected for our quality of work and methodological innovations and has particular expertise in communicable disease epidemiology.
The communicable disease modelling team has extensive experience in the epidemiology, burden of illness and mathematical modelling of infectious diseases, particularly relating to the cost-effectiveness of interventions and policy issues. Previous disease areas explored include influenza, SARS, tuberculosis, directly transmitted childhood infections, vector borne diseases and HIV.
This role offers the opportunity to work in this exciting and influential field, combining cutting edge epidemiology with health economics to inform Health Technology Assessment and Policy making. We work with a broad range of clients from across the pharmaceutical industry and many of our analyses are used to inform national public health policy decisions, both in the UK and in other countries.
The candidate recruited for this role will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the department’s work and particularly to further their own skills in epidemiological and related analyses.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• A Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistical Epidemiology, preferably including infectious disease transmission modelling and Public Health components
• A high level of demonstrable competence in statistical epidemiology
• A genuine interest in epidemiology, as well as economic evaluation methods and applications, particularly those used to inform public health policy.
• A strong desire to learn and to gain a deep understanding of the work of the department.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• High self-motivation.
• Leadership potential.
ICON are committed to supporting the growth and development of the health economics and epidemiology group. The candidate recruited for this role will receive external training as well as on the job training from our senior scientists.
