We have a rare opportunity for a three month internship in the Early Clinical Biostatistics group of Novartis Oncology Translational Medicine, based in Basel. The internship will focus on statistical research for oncology early development trials in which the optimum dose for combination drug treatments is to be determined. This internship provides an opportunity for the intern to work with senior-level industry biostatisticians, and to gain first-hand experience of applying statistical approaches in drug development.
The student may work on one or more of the following topics:
- Appropriate modelling of the relationship between dose and risk of toxicity,
- The use of additional data, for example adverse event, efficacy, PK or PD, for determination of 'optimal dose',
- Best allocation of patients across dose combinations to ensure good estimation of drug/drug interaction,
- Alternative study designs to maximize success in later phase trials.
Candidates should have a master degree, or should be in a PhD program in biostatistics, statistics or related area, and should have good verbal and written communication skills in English.
Programming skills using either SAS or R are required.
PhD students at a later stage of her/his research project in medical/bio-statistics or a relevant area, and those with experience in drug development are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates can apply directly at: http://www.novartis.com/careers/job-search/index.shtml
