Dear colleagues,
The 3rd HEA Social Sciences annual learning and teaching conference ‘Teaching forward: the future of the Social Sciences’ will take place on 21 - 22 May 2014 at The Studio, Birmingham.
The Social Sciences are fundamentally about the world in which we live but what will the world look like beyond 2025? Utilising scenarios developed in more detail by Keri Facer, Helen Beetham and Richard Sandford at Futurelab in 2009 (for further details of the project: http://bit.ly/1cdZOGb) presenters will discuss how their existing work will both influence the future and prepare learners for these possible futures. Abstracts are available: http://bit.ly/1bdMe5v
The conference keynote speakers are:
Professor Mike Sharples (The Open University) - Innovating pedagogy: futures for teaching, learning and assessment in higher education
Professor Keri Facer (University of Bristol). - Universities for the future?
Our conference dinner will be held at Fazeley Studios in Birmingham. The dinner will be followed by a forum theatre performance, especially commissioned for this conference, by the Day for Night Theatre Company. For further details: http://bit.ly/1hzCMLR
