Dear all in the worldwide community of information and records management,
For those whom I don't know on this list, and there are many of you, I am
not sorry to take up your time reading this and having to press the DEL
(D-Hell?) button on yet another email clogging up your system.
For those whom I know, read on. And if you are in doubt, I am "the French
girl" who always says what she thinks, often to her peril, who walks in
with an air of superiority because she knew from long ago, that she would
find a way out of this cul-de-sac.
After many years of my life dedicated to the world of information and
records management both in private and public sector, I am hanging up my
boots, or as they say in French, "je rends mon tablier". I leave you the
pleasure to bang your head against the walls of bureaucracy and of
ingrained stagnation for some and to think that you are making a true
difference to the world for the others.
I wish you all a fantastic career if you start on that path which will test
your resilience to its limits, and to spot the light at the end of the
tunnel if you are mid- or end of career.
Despite the odds and only sheer determination, I implemented many
successful elements of records management in the public sector. I believe I
have made a difference, I believe I can no longer make that difference, so
time to go rather than becoming bitter and twisted and stuck in the
dead-end with nowhere to go;
I have had some great laughs and some fun times. These are not occurring
often enough nowadays, So time to go when the people I am encountering
think that it is all very very serious. Sometimes it is indeed, but in the
majority of the time, it is not.
Maybe there will be a vacancy at Aberdeenshire Council, maybe there won't.
Time and money will tell.
I will now be changing the face of the world, one person at a time. If you
need honest, down to earth and inspirational help and advice to boost your
image (and I am not talking scanning or digital photography here!!) , your
look, your confidence and your presentation skills, then here is what I
have been doing for the last 4 years and will continue to do
www.lefrenchdressing.co.uk.
The corporate side of my business is under development. Sign up on the
website to keep tuned with what the French willl do next. (yes another
email to reach you!)
Please for the sake of your peers' sanity, if you want to reply to me, do
not do so on this list. Send me a personal message. You really don't want
the wrath of the IRMS Executive and list members falling on you because you
have taken up their time when a personal message to me would have been much
more appropriate. Think of their email boxes and their precious time.
Practice what you preach... for a change!
I wish you all well and bow out of this poorly rewarding career.
IRMS please remove my name from the mailing list. I lost the password to do
this myself a long time ago. Thank you.
Adieu (not au revoir!)
Edith Pringault-Adam
