**this year's conference has a particular focus on multi-modal contexts,
with plenaries given by theo van leeuwen, kay o'halloran, and robert
mcmurtrie**
-----
The theme of the conference is “New Texts, New Challenges” and we invite
proposals for presentations which are informed by, reference in some way,
report on applications of (or research using), critique, or develop theory
in Systemic Functional Linguistics (they can even be concerned with “old
texts” or “old challenges”).
Proposals may be for either a 40-minute presentation or an 85-minute
workshop. Workshops will typically involve multiple presenters, cover a
wider range of issues than the shorter presentations, and may involve more
by way of audience interactions.
Proposals for a 40-minute presentation should be no longer than 250 words
and those for an 85-minute workshop no longer than 350 words.
The conference includes a “teacher’s day” on Wed Oct 1, devoted to
educational issues.
Confirmed Plenary speakers are:
Susan Feez
Kristina Love
Theo van Leeuwen
Annabelle Lukin
Robert McMurtrie
Kay O’Halloran
Geoff Williams.
Abstracts for plenary presentations are now available on the conference
website:

reduction for students.
