As is always the way, as soon as you write something it does out of date!
Just after I sent the last post the Club Librarian sent me a copy of the
Snailbeach Mine Inventory for 1884 - which appears to clear up things a
little. I've extracted the relevant items:

The Inventory date is interesting as Henry Dennis had recently finished
re-vamping the mine and it made its first recorded loss. The mine was
reconstituted and carried on in a smaller way.
