HI Greg
Thank you very much! Someone over on the GEM list also suggested Google Forms, and I've had a play with it and it works perfectly for what I need.
Thanks
Catherine

Hi Catherine,
https://www.surveymonkey.com/ is very popular and works well, I believe you can make a question, like "Enter your email", required. The only problem is getting the results out in a format you can reuse requires you pay a subscription fee.
I have come to like Google Forms. You can set many parameters for questions and best of all the results go directly to a Google Spreadsheet. From there you can make it an Excel spreadsheet and run mail-merge or any number of other things.

Here is an example form I used to register attendees for a conference:

Subject: Online polling tools
Hi there
We've recently advertised for three creative practitioners for our microresidencies project<http://www.phm.org.uk/about-us/vacancies/>, the winners of which will be decided by public consultation. I'm trying to work out the best way of getting people to vote online and (ironically for someone that works in a museum of democracy!) I'm really struggling to sift through the various options. There seems to be loads of free online polling tools - which is great - but I'd like the option for voters to have to enter their email addresses so that we don't get repeat voters and I can't seem to find one that does this (you can add blocks by cookies or IP addresses, but I specifically want it to be as secure as possible as there's money involved for the winners). Has anyone done any online voting before and could you advise on the best options? Ideally, I'd like something that's free, but I'm prepared to spend a few quid if that's not possible.
Thanks
Catherine
