Post-AGM Presentation
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Nicky Imrie, a researcher on the Mackintosh Architecture project<http://www.mackintosh-architecture.gla.ac.uk/project/>, will be our post-AGM speaker. Led by the Hunterian Museum at Glasgow University, this project has set the ambitious goal of cataloguing, photographing and evaluating all of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's<http://www.mackintosh-architecture.gla.ac.uk/mackintosh/> architectural designs. According to the project web page, "Mackintosh's core activity as an architect is remarkably under-researched, despite the attention given to his achievements as a designer and watercolour artist". Therefore, the project aims to "redress this balance".
The end result of the project will be a web -based resource due to be launched in July along with a major exhibition at the Hunterian<http://www.gla.ac.uk/hunterian/visit/exhibitions/major%20exhibitions/mackintosharchitecture/> 2014. This will provide a catalogue<http://www.mackintosh-architecture.gla.ac.uk/catalogue_temp/> of all projects by or associated with Mackintosh and will include full project descriptions, related drawings and archived documents and information on associated contractors. The resource also includes interesting background information on Charles Rennie Mackintosh and will feature a series of essays.
Nicky has kindly agreed to discuss her experiences of working on this fascinating project. She will talk about the challenges of identifying Mackintosh architectural work and the interesting discoveries they made! She will discuss how they tackled the process of cataloguing and digitising the diverse sources. She will also tell us about some of the technical challenges faced and the steps they have taken to ensure the final resource is user-friendly.
(Note: Non-members are welcome to attend the AGM but are not eligible to vote.)
