Our university assigned us mentors and we could choose between male or female ones, giving us a chance to think what we think would help us more. My mentor is quite high up in the organisation and from a different department which means that I can get a broader picture of the organisation and its culture, networking, etc.
We meet up once a month and plan to establish a career path for me so for the next session I have to think about what I would like to be when I grow up :-)
Best wishes,
Z.

Hi Louise
At the beginning of the Aurora process, my institution offered to find me a mentor and, after checking separately with the mentor and mentee that we were happy with the set up, we were invited to arrange a meeting between us. When I met with my mentor, part of our discussion involved agreeing how we wanted to work together - which for us is an informal 'as and when' arrangement.
For me, this approach of making connections and then letting the individuals manage the process works very well.
All the best,
Harriet

Can anyone elaborate on what kind of internal mentoring support they are receiving as part of the Aurora programme?
I'm trying to assess what level of support we should have in place for those at the Institute signing up for the scheme.
Many thanks
Louise
