our reasearch activity involves non destructive diagnostic of historical books and documents. In particular we are involved in the study of the structure and preservation state of bookbindings and other complex elements like illuminations. We have developped a new method based on Infrared Thermography to detect and characterize written scraps buried in the bookbindings.
