Dear all
We are a team of researchers from South Italy. Our department at the University of Basilicata, whose acronym is DiCEM (http://dicem.unibas.it/site/home.html), has been established from a wide convergence of scholars from different areas such as Anthropology, Architecture, Archeology, Agriculture and Tourism Science.
We are looking for partners from other eligible countries, in order to apply to the call Heritage Plus. Our proposal concerns tangible (actual places) and intangible (narratives) Heritage and the available ICT to implement sustainable heritage-related processes of knowledge sharing and management.
The project focuses on selected urban and rural areas that have undergone major irreversible transformations due to social causes, warfare, or natural calamities leading to the forced relocation of those who inhabited them at the time. Such areas (historic city centers, urban settlements, villages…) may have been abandoned or experienced processes of gentrification causing the neglect of historical and cultural memories and of a shared heritage that were connected to them.
The project merges the inputs of experts of cultural anthropology, archeology, history, architecture, and urban planning. The knowledge resulting from an inter-disciplinary research will be made available on a Web platform and digital technologies that will grant social, economic, and cultural community actors the possibility to gain easy access to it. The narratives reconnecting communities and places will thus add again to the local historical and cultural heritage, returning a history to places, saving the latter from oblivion or the socially opaque statute of “ruins”, and giving them new social lives, meanings, and purposes.
We look forward to receive your reply.
Best regards,
Francesco Marano-
