Dear colleagues,

We are a multidisciplinary team from the University of Cyprus, currently looking for a third partner outside Italy to participate in the ROOF_SCAPES project. The full title is "Innovative methods of roof design and construction in the refurbishment, conservation and energy optimization of the built heritage of the Mediterranean region."

To sum up,  the proposal answers to the call for sustainable conservation of the built heritage, focus is on the roof design and the subjects below will be covered :
 a) Documentation of roof structures around Mediterranean area  (research of construction techniques and details of roofs of vernacular architecture) with focus on the bioclimatic elements found
b) Thermal performance analysis and assessment of the existing roof components and local materials
c) Optimization and design of innovative building roof components (materiality of roof elements-tiles, and roof package) and fabrication and testing of innovative roof prototypes.

The leading organization will be the University of Cyprus. The Municipality of Nicosia and Gigas Ltd tile Factory will participate as associate partners from Cyprus. A multidisciplinary team from the University of Naples “Federico II”  and ITABC (Institute for Technologies Applied to Cultural Heritage) have also confirmed the partnership to the project.
