Dear Steve,

I was really interested and excited to read your idea for a Heritage Plus project focussed on Food and Culture. My organisation, the Collections Trust, is currently leading a EUR4m initiative called 'Europeana Food and Drink', funded under the ICT Policy Support Programme, and we would be really interested in a potential collaboration around this theme.

The aim of Europeana Food and Drink is to use the theme of food and drink culture and heritage to build partnerships with the Creative Industries, tourism and enterprise around Europe. We are particularly interested in the idea of 'food identities' and the ways that diaspora communities carry their food culture with them when they travel.

If you (or any of the other potential partners on this discussion) would like to follow up on this and see whether we might align some of this work under Heritage Plus, please contact my colleague Katie Smith ([log in to unmask]) offlist for more information. The Collections Trust is currently responsible for a portfolio of European funded projects worth EUR19m, and we are interested in opening up new collaborative partnerships. More information about our work is available at http://www.collectionslink.org.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Nick

Subject: Food and Culture

Dear all

Having seen some very interesting idedas for this call for projects, at our tourism research centre we are thinking about something rather different as a project idea:

Exploring the link between culture, heritage, provenance (of food and food production), landscape and tourism, in order to develop a richer, more integrated tourist experience. The aim would be create a deeper recognition and understanding of the significance of such food histories, narratives surrounding food heritage and provenance, and how localised food identities hold the key to sustainable living in the future.

If anybody is interested in such a subject and would like to discuss project possibilities please contact me.

Steve
