The Brain Institute at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (Inscer - PUCRS), Porto Alegre, Brazil is seeking for a full-time postdoctoral research fellow in the area of MRI research. The main focus for this position will be on developing advanced MRI pulse sequences for abdominal and chest imaging for application of compressed sensing. The project will be developed in collaboration with Dr. Ricardo Otazo from New York University School of Medicine.
Requirements include a PhD in engineering or physics, or a related field within the last five years, a solid understanding of MRI physics, experience with pulse sequence development, and proficiency in C/C++ and Matlab programming languages. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with General Electric pulse sequence programming environment (EPIC).
The candidate will receive a stipend of monthly R$ 4100.00 (tax free), plus additional financial support to moving to Porto Alegre.
InsCer is a novel state of the art facility located within the health sciences complex of PUCRS with the mission to develop and promote the advancement of research in neuroscience and its associated fields of research. InsCer aims to establish a solid transdisciplinary approach to the generation of knowledge and to bridge the needs of clinical and basic neuroscience with the problem-solving abilities provided by radio-chemistry, pharmacology, physics and informatics on the one hand, and with human sciences like philosophy, psychology and language studies on the other. Within its facilities are a 3.0 Tesla MRI (GE Signa HDxt), a SPECT and a PET-CT along with a radiopharmaceutical lab, including an on site cyclotron.
Porto Alegre is the capital of the most southern state of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul. The metropolitan area is the largest in southern Brazil, with a population of about 4.5 million. Porto Alegre is known as one of the top cultural, political and economic centers of Brazil. It is located in the subtropical zone and thus features a humid subtropical climate.
