QUWAC (Quinnipiac University Writing Across the Curriculum) and the RWI (Research and Writing Institute) are pleased to announce our 5th biennial conference on critical thinking and writing:
Thinking and Writing Beyond Two Cultures: STEM, WAC/WID, and the Changing Academy
The conference will meet on Friday, November 21st, and Saturday, November 22nd, 2014, on Quinnipiac University's Mt. Carmel campus.
On Friday night, Vaughan Turekian, a science diplomat and atmospheric geochemist with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, will lead the opening conversation, "Science Diplomacy: Critical Thinking and Writing Across the Academy and the World."
The Saturday morning keynote address will be delivered by Kathleen Blake Yancey, Kellogg W. Hunt Professor of English and Distinguished Research Professor at Florida State University. Her talk, "Concepts and Practices in Flux: Critical Thinking and Writing Across the Disciplinary Cultures of the Academy," will draw from the experiences of students and teachers in various disciplines, and will explore how articulation and reflection on the various cultures of higher education can support student learning.
Details about the call for proposals, Friday night conversation and Saturday morning keynote address are included in the attached pdf. Information about submission guidelines, the registration process, and the conference program are forthcoming.
Sincerely,
Paul
