Mini symposium, workshops and showcase from MoonFool's Anna-Helena McLean
Dear Colleagues,
Apologies for cross posting. Please forward the following on to anyone who may be interested in attending.
ACT Workshops: As part of the annual Liverpool based PhysicalFest we invite you to join Anna-Helena McLean, former principal of the world renowned physical theatre company Gardzienice from Poland, for two intensive workshops exploring personal creativity through ensemble practice and archetypes. Supported by members of the international ACT ensemble including Alexandra Kazazou (Studio Matejka POLAND) and Chris-Gerard Heyward (Poor Dog Group L.A). The company introduce the core ACT training and the company’s latest work on STORM, premiering in the UK and touring internationally in 2015. The sessions encourage you to explore personal creativity. Participants will be introduced to basic acrobatics, playful vocal exercises, and original music. Breath, rhythm and choral singing weaves the group together, awakening a sense of symbiosis through partner and gesture work. Directed through themes of man vs nature, we explore the Master and Servant archetypes from Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Anna-Helena generates a safe, playful environment to take risks and develop personal awareness in ensemble performance.
Suitable to all backgrounds and levels of experience.
STORM: is the latest work from the internationally acclaimed physical theatre and music company Moon Fool. An ensemble of soloists and chorus use music, acrobatics and gesture to lead audiences on a journey to encounter a changing world evoked by live visual projections and new writing. Feedback from previous workshops
“I felt that I re-awoke to many of the things that engage me most in the theatre – song, rhythm, music, improvisation, movement work, ensemble and something that moves us from banality into a much more archetypal, vital, spiritual realm… A really profound, transformative experience!”
Participant Queen & Fool NYC 2009
“the kind of work you are doing… is brave and so, so important. You teach so graciously, with boundless energy… as a performer we "give life" to a character or a place or idea, when it makes more sense to imagine that it ‘lives you’. Allowing all your faculties to be so open and so sensitive that what comes out of you is not an act, but the allowance of a true impulse. When you feel "it," it really is the most simple thing”.
Annakeara Stinson Queen & Fool NYC 2010
“Thank you for a wonderful, inspirational, thought-provoking, bond-building, mind-opening workshop - I truly had the time of my life and am genuinely amazed at what I was able to accomplish”.
