1.2 New FELTAG report: The digital future for Further Education
The Further Education Learning Technology Action Group (FELTAG) report was recently published; the report looks at paths forward to a digital future for Further Education and Skills. Recommendations in the report are based on the work of the FELTAG group and an open conversation amongst the wider community.

2.1 Enrol on ocTEL - Open Course in Technology Enhanced Learning
The Open Course in Technology Enhanced Learning (ocTEL) is back! Starting on the 28th April 2014 you will be able to participate in this online course designed to help you better understand ways to use Learning Technology for teaching, learning and assessment. The course has undergone a revision and now is shorter (six weeks plus induction week) and we are working on incorporating new features including Open Badges for accreditation.

2.2 CMALT webinar for candidates, Tuesday 29 April, 12.30 – 13.30
The session is designed to provide information and support to candidates looking to complete their portfolios in the next few months. It will provide an overview of the submission process, advice on how to complete a portfolio and an opportunity to see how the assessment process works.

2.3 OER14 Newcastle University, 28-29 April 2014
Now in its fifth year, OER14 is an international conference on open education. The conference is supported by ALT and the ALT Open Education Special Interest Group. This year the conference themes are: building and linking communities of open practice; MOOCs and open courses; academic practice; development and pedagogy; open policy; research; scholarship and access; students as users and co-creators.

3.1 Network Dedicated to Fostering Web Talent through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is Launched with the Support of the European Commission
The European Commission has launched the network “Startup Europe” in order to help build up web skills throughout Europe. The initiative seeks to boost the lacking qualified workforce by increasing the use of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

4.1 Team-Based Learning (TBL): Group Work that Engages Students, Tuesday 10 June 2014
Bradford School of Pharmacy invites you to attend a Masterclass in Team-Based Learning (TBL) with Larry Michaelsen at the University of Bradford. Developed by Larry in the US in the late 70’s, TBL is a special form of collaborative learning using a specific sequence of individual work, group work and feedback to create a motivational framework in which students increasingly hold each other accountable for coming to class prepared and contributing to discussion.

5.1 The Student Social Media Showcase (SSMS), Brighton Business School, July 9 2014,
The SSMS, hosted by the Business e-Learning Research Group at Brighton Business School, will draw together local employers in the field of digital marketing and creative industries with recent graduates, academics, apprentices, teachers and school students at the Huxley building, at the University of Brighton. University students and recent graduates are invited to submit a multimedia summary of their current academic research on social media in the form of a short video, soundbite, Prezi or any other creative artefact that can be displayed independently in the space. Students should attend to discuss their work with the delegates and potential employers from the industry who will also be there.
