Senior Teaching & Research Fellow – Epidemiology/Statistics (Ref: 112716)
Grade 8: £37,756 - £45,053 p.a
The newly established University Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups and it provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching.
We are looking for a full time Teaching & Research Fellow to take responsibility for the organisation, running and development of the Epidemiology/Statistics module of the MSc course. You will also have the opportunity to develop your own area of research within the Populations Studies Group.
The Teaching element of your role (50% of your time), will include taking responsibility for the organisation of the practicals, in conjunction with lecturers and teaching assistants and setting, marking and providing feedback on assessments for students. You will also direct a junior Statistician/Epidemiologist in assisting the teaching team. The Research aspect of your role (50% of your time) will involve developing and leading a programme of research within the Population Studies team and writing grant applications to support novel research ideas.
In order to be considered for the Teaching & Research Fellow you will have a PhD in Statistics or Epidemiology, experience teaching at graduate level and have worked as a Statistician/Epidemiologist. You will have a good understanding of the common statistical methods used in medical research and be proficient with statistical software, particularly Stata. Experience with other statistical software, such as R/S-Plus or SAS is also a prerequisite. You will need exceptional oral communication skills and a recognised publication record commensurate with stage of career.
