The School of Mathematics & Statistics is seeking to appoint a
Research Assistant/Associate on an exciting interdisciplinary project
aimed at understanding current and future home and business
electricity demand, flexibility, and generation, and the effect on
electrical distribution networks of a move to a low-carbon
society. Field trials and customer studies involve electricity
customers from around the UK but with particular focus on the North
East of England. You should have, or be expected to gain in the near
future, a PhD (or equivalent) in Statistics or a numerate discipline
which involves the analysis and interpretation of large data sets,
leading to competence and confidence in data handling, processing and
analysis. You should have a good understanding of a range of
statistical methods and their analysis including time series methods,
analysis of variance, sample size calculations and an understanding of
hierarchical Bayesian modelling would be useful.
This post is available for a period of up to twelve months with a
start date of 1st of June 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
