To work under the supervision of Prof Peter Diggle on an MRC-funded project: Acoustic Emission
as a non-invasive biomarker for quantitative dynamic assessment of knee joint repair in clinical
trials and stratified medicine.
The project aims to develop a non-invasive diagnostic system for knee-joint wear using
high-frequency acoustic emissions measured during controlled movement sequences. This post
will include advising on statistical aspects of study-design and carrying out statistical
analysis of the resulting data using multivariate, longitudinal and/or time series methods.
The post is based in Lancaster, but will involve collaboration with colleagues elsewhere
in the North West of England.
You should have a postgraduate qualification in statistics, preferably a PhD or equivalent,
and a working knowledge of statistical programming, preferably in R. Research experience in
multivariate, longitudinal and/or time series methods and a record of published research
would be advantageous.

The post is a fixed term appointment for 12 months in the first instance. This post is also
available part-time on a pro-rata salary.
