EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) is a Zambian NGO improving the health of Zambians by conducting locally-relevant research, providing technical support and training, and strengthening primary healthcare provision systems in the areas of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other infectious diseases, women’s health, and newborn and child health. CIDRZ has been an active partner of the Government of the Republic of Zambia since 2001 through collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other ministries. CIDRZ now wishes to recruit:


1.	Head of Analysis Unit Ref No. HA/AN/02/04/14

Reports to Chief Scientific Officer. The incumbent will work with study teams to design studies and analyze study data. Develop, implement, and enforce internal and external policies for Analysis Unit at CIDRZ. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and visiting trainees

Main duties
Provide administrative oversight and management for the CIDRZ Analysis Unit, including supervision of data and technical staff, coordination of data management and analysis activities, and assignment and oversight of scientific analyses. Develop and implement departmental procedures for designated projects, including tools to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects. Maintain a working list of CIDRZ analyses and regularly chart progress of various projects. Serve as liaison for the Analysis Unit to other administrative departments as needed, including Human Resources, Facilities, Procurement, and others. Lead efforts to recruit new team members as needed and develop existing expertise in data management and analysis at CIDRZ. Provide scientific input into the design of new protocols and analyses at CIDRZ. Conduct statistical analyses in collaboration with CIDRZ investigators and collaborators, based on agreed upon study methods for research and program evaluation. Participate in the development and writing of grants, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations based on work at CIDRZ. Develop novel methodologies to address statistical problems with observational and clinical trials data encountered in our setting. Complete all required training, including routine Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practices training. Build capacity in and provide mentorship to study staff.

Qualifications 
Candidates should have a PhD or MSc in medical statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, demography, or related field; Track record in the proficient use of SAS or STATA to analyse data for scientific publications; At least three years work experience with large longitudinal databases, preferably in the field of health research; At least five years of experience in managing teams



2.	Data Analyst Ref No. DA/AN/02/04/15

Reports to Head of Analysis Unit. The prospective candidate is expected to have a wide knowledge of statistical methodology as applied in health related field. In particular, the incumbent should be familiar with multiple and multivariate regression approaches, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, multi-level modelling, design and analysis of clinical trials, assist in the design and analysis of new and ongoing research studies. The post holder will be expected to analyse and present data to CIDRZ researchers, government ministries, and donors and funders. They will also prepare analyses for scientific conferences and/or publication in scientific journals. She/he will be expected to liaise closely with the Head of Analysis Unit in terms of data analysis and statistical methodology on various problems.  

Main duties
Conduct independent data analysis, under the mentorship of experienced biostatisticians and in collaboration with researchers/investigators at CIDRZ. Participate in the design and development of studies, including sample size calculations. Present and communicate research findings at conferences or to CIDRZ investigators. Assist in the development of manuscripts for publication purposes. Complete all required training, including routine Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practices training. Keep good records of all activities for internal audits. Attend workshops, conferences and other meetings as required. 

Qualifications 
MSc in medical statistics, epidemiology, mathematics, demography, or related field preferred; Individuals with a BSc in the above-mentioned disciplines, with significant related work experience, will also be considered; Track record in the proficient use of SAS or STATA to analyse data for scientific publications
