Applications are invited for a PhD fellowship in the School of Mathematical Sciences, University College Dublin. The position is funded through the INSIGHT Centre for Big Data Analytics (www.insight-centre.org). This is a joint initiative between researchers at University College Dublin, NUI Galway, University College Cork, and Dublin City University, as well as other partner institutions. It will bring together a critical mass of more than 200 researchers from Ireland's leading ICT centres to develop a new generation of data analytics technologies in a number of key application areas.
The successful applicant will work on a project entitled `Statistical modelling approaches to network analytics' under the supervision of Dr. Claire Gormley (mathsci.ucd.ie/people/gormley_c). The project will involve collaboration with an industry partner. Applicants should have experience and/or interest in multivariate analysis, longitudinal data modelling, categorical data analysis and the Bayesian paradigm. Interest in computational statistics and statistical programming would also be of benefit.
Eligibility criteria: applicants should hold a first or upper second class honours undergraduate degree and/or or an MSc in a relevant subject.
The starting date is as soon as possible. The fellowship covers PhD fees and attracts a stipend averaging eur18,000 per annum for four years.
