PLANNING OFFICER
(REPORTING & MANAGEMENT INFORMATION)
Salary range £35,000-£45,000 per annum plus excellent benefits
An opportunity has arisen to join the Planning team at our small collegiate University at an exciting time in its development, with the launch of our updated and ambitious Strategic Plan. High quality reports, information and analysis will be key to the success of our day to day operations, strategic decision-making and engagement with the regulatory, financial and quality assurance aspects of the UK & US higher education frameworks.
Reporting directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Development), the Planning Officer will be responsible for the timely and accurate provision of enterprise reporting, management information, research and analysis to support operational user needs, the University’s strategic planning processes and to meet external reporting requirements, such as HESA student stream reporting and Key Information Sets. This post will be particularly attractive to a technically proficient management information specialist, who now wants the satisfaction of seeing their work applied in practice and to make a real contribution to the running of an institution, whilst gaining experience in the growing independent HE sector.
To succeed in this role, you must be highly motivated, have an inquiring, analytical approach and advanced SQL, MS Access & Excel and XML skills, preferably with knowledge of MS Reporting Services. You will be able to convey complex ideas and data in concise, actionable form and to build effective working relationships with a wide range of University users and external stakeholders. You must also hold a degree (or equivalent) in a numerate discipline.
Whilst not absolute requirements, preference will be given to candidates who have applied their technical skills to report on and return student data to external stakeholders and who have had experience in using business intelligence tools, ideally to meet the information and decision-support needs of users in higher education.
