Hi Mary,
Bore da! Nice to hear about your use of the Catalyst rubric. I did learn previously that it was used at Aberystwyth as the basis for staff/course development, and used this as the starter for us at Manchester to put together something for staff.
We haven't got anything nearly as well defined as you guys, but in the future we might be looking to develop something around it as a way to engage staff and prompt reflection. We've been mentoring staff through the competition for the last three years on a one-to-one basis. We had a winner in 2012 (Communication Strategies category, Andrew Whitworth), and in consecutive years we have been banking on this to promote our services to support instructors through the longer-term process of refining their course space/approach and helping put together their application, but it has been heavily focused on the competition. We have had success by engaging programme teams through a 'Carpe Diem' workshop, and we might be looking for ways to use the rubric as a tool within this.
In any case we'd be really keen to chat with you about how you use this, and to share what little we have put in place, to find out how it ties in with staff awards, and generate some ideas. I have colleagues who may also be interested, and there may be others here also interested in what we can share.
Best wishes, Will
