Oxford Brookes University are seeking an experienced archivist to cover for the maternity leave of the permanent post holder. The purpose of the role is to manage, maintain and make accessible our archival collections, in particular to work on the Brookes Collection and University Archives and the Booker Prize Archive.
The post holder is expected to provide expert professional knowledge and advice to Library staff as well as developing and implementing high standards of working practice across all aspects of archival administration. The Library uses the CALM 2000 archival management system.
This post is based at our Headington Campus and the post holder is currently based in an office adjacent to the Special Collections Reading Room and reports to the Head of Service Development and Delivery, who has strategic responsibility for the development of special collections and archives.
You will be:
§ ensuring good practice in the management of our archival collections
§ working with the CALM 2000 system
§ cataloguing archival material to ISAD (G)
§ supervising the Special Collections Reading Room and answering enquiries
§ working closely with the Subject Librarians to promote and exploit the archival collection
§ contributing to the staffing and supervision of the Special Collections Reading Room and to providing enquiry services relating to the collections.

§ You should have:
§ a recognised professional qualification in archives studies/administration/management
§ ideally at least 2 years’ archival work experience post qualification
§ proven experience of cataloguing archives to ISAD (G)
§ excellent written and oral communication skills
§ a commitment to delivering high standards of customer care
§ the ability to work unsupervised and to contribute effectively to team working
