Hi Agnieszka,
When you use the batch editor to create your second level analysis (or first level if this is a single subject), enter your mask as the 'explicit mask'. Then make sure to select FWE-corrected statistics when you view your results. This will only show voxels within the mask. I *think* that's the same as the approach you mentioned - please check it looks consistent!
