The British Library yesterday issued a press release to confirm that it has saved two important manuscripts for the nation, following their sale to foreign buyers and temporary export stops. One of the items is the treatise of the 1550s from the Mendham Collection on the marriage of priests which we have covered on this list before; the release includes a quote from Professor Diamaid MacCulloch Kt, a member of RAG. Both manuscripts are to be digitized in due course. The release is at:

More details about the export stop system, including in relation to manuscripts, will be found in the latest annual report (for 2012/13) of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest.
