Folks,
As many of you will have heard by now, Poldark Mine has gone into
administration and is up for sale at a guide price of £350,000. To help the
mine open for the coming season, a few non-freehold, non-Cornish items are
being offered for sale. The most important of these are:
Bellis and Morcom ‘T’ type three crank triple expansion steam engine,
attached to a Belliss and Morcom asphalt pump, late of the Stothert and Pitt
works at Bath and later of the Fawley Oil Refinery near Southampton.
Bellis and Morcom self lubricating electrically driven two stage air
compressor. This is powered by a 225hp electric motor made by GEC.
There is a small number of wheels and cogs which may be of interest.
Andrew Boddy of Lodge & Thomas, Truro, is dealing with this, and he can be
contacted on 01872 272722.
Information on the site can be had from Christie & Co, Exeter, on 01392 285
