Applications are invited for a temporary 12-month post as Chief Library
Assistant within the Rare Books Department of one of the world's major
research libraries. The role holder will undertake activities which
support both strands of the Department's work; service provision through
the Reading Room and curatorial activity, primarily cataloguing.
Applicants should possess a library qualification and have considerable
experience of cataloguing early-printed books to international standards
((AACR2/DCRM(B), MARC21, LCSH). Additionally, applicants should have an
informed understanding of the history of printing, excellent
organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, be able to
demonstrate a strong interest in reader services and have experience of
working within an academic library.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the
first instance.
