italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
The AAIS [American Association for Italian Studies] is sponsoring a
session at MLA 2015 entitled "Matter, Method, and Symbolic Capital in
Medieval and Early Modern Studies." (Vancouver, B.C., 8–11 January 2015)
The convulsive shifts in what primary sources we study are paralleled by
equally convulsive shifts in how we study them. Primary corpora become
visible (travel literature, women’s writing) as others lose visibility;
approaches and methods gain or regain currency (gender studies,
translation, textual studies) as others wane. This panel aims to address
the role of such disciplinary shifts in how we research and teach
medieval and early modern Italian language, literature, and culture.
If this session has your name on it, please send a 200-word abstract by
14 March 2014 to F. Regina Psaki ([log in to unmask]).
