The Burren Art Gallery, Ireland
The Burren Art Gallery (IE) is a contemporary art/work-space in a substantively restored former Church of Ireland church/graveyard (1798). It is a living, breathing example of the practical challenges associated with sensitively preserving important heritage by providing a viable new future. In particular it illustrates traditional construction methodologies including pegged roof tie-beam trusses, exterior lime-washing, natural slating etc. which were all undertaken by the current owner (ex. Open University).
We are interested in participating in any relevant Heritage research collaboration projects, perhaps as a case study or even to hire as a relevant field research centre/study base etc. (we are on the edge of the famous Burren world heritage site, surrounded by important archaeology and built heritage). A space of up to 100 square metres could be made available for such work. Further details, plans and photographs can be e-mailed directly by request. Expressions of interest should be sent in the first instance to [log in to unmask] or by telephoning 00 353(0)86 2000472.
