Dear Prof. Macías Bernal,
I write on behalf of the research group coordinated by Prof. Paolo Gasparoli, based in the Politecnico di Milano, Department of Architetture, Built environment and Construction engineering (ABC).
The group has worked both on experimental and applied research, addressing topics such as the treatment of building surfaces, the analysis of major risks for building decay and maintenance of historic buildings.
In recent years, we’ve developed significant research on preventive conservation and maintenance, mostly on churches and archaeological sites.
The most recent research projects include:
- definition of procedures for risk assessment and planned maintenance on the archaeological sites of Rome and Ostia Antica, and for the site of Pompei.
- preparatory studies for the drafting of the Maintenance Plan of the “Vittoriano” (Rome);
- condition survey and condition report of more than 40 historic buildings (mostly churches) in the Cultural District of Valtellina (Northern Italy), and assessment on the risks for their conservation.
The group also worked on conservation issues related to the management of two Italian UNESCO sites, namely Venice and Crespi d’Adda.
We are interested in participating in a project on preventive conservation of historic buildings and we’d like to know more on your proposal, in order to better identify common interests.
